When a mirror column changes, its value lands in a real column — automatically.
Mirror columns are read-only reflections — monday's automations, dashboards, filters and exports often can't use them. MirrorSync watches your mirror columns and copies their values into regular, native columns on the same board, in real time. Set it up once inside the MirrorSync board view — no automation recipes to configure. This guide covers installation, creating and managing connections, the supported column types, and plans.

Getting started
Install the app, add the MirrorSync view to your board, and connect your monday account — three steps.
1.1 Install the app
- Open the MirrorSync listing on the monday.com marketplace and click Install. You can also reach it from inside monday: Profile → monday apps marketplace, then search MirrorSync.
- Choose the account to install it on and approve the requested permissions when monday asks — the app needs to read your boards and update item columns to keep them in sync.
- Once installed, the MirrorSync view becomes available on any board under + Add view → Apps.
1.2 Add the MirrorSync view and connect your account
- Open the board that holds your mirror column and click + next to the view tabs → Apps → search MirrorSync → Add view.
- The first time you open the view, click Connect to monday.com. A monday authorization window opens — approve it and the view unlocks automatically.
1.3 Prepare your board
MirrorSync works with the columns already on your board. Before creating a connection, make sure the board has:
- A Connect Boards column linking your items to items on other boards. Required.
- A Mirror column based on that Connect Boards column, with both a board and a specific column selected in its settings. Required.
- A target column of the same type as the mirrored source column (e.g. a Status column to receive a mirrored Status) — this is the real column MirrorSync writes into. Required.

How it works
Mirror columns show data — MirrorSync turns it into data you can actually work with.
2.1 Why copy a mirror into a real column?
A mirror column is a live reflection of another board — monday treats it as virtual, so large parts of the platform can't touch it. Once MirrorSync copies the value into a native column, it behaves like any data you typed yourself:
Automations
Trigger monday automations from the synced column — something mirror columns can't reliably do.
Dashboards & formulas
Feed widgets, charts, formulas and column summaries with real values instead of reflections.
Filters, sorting & groups
Filter, sort and group your board by the synced value like any regular column.
Exports & integrations
Excel exports and third-party integrations see the synced column with its actual value.
2.2 The sync flow
When you create a connection, MirrorSync registers listeners on the boards your mirror is linked to. From then on everything is automatic:
- Someone changes the source column on a connected board (or links / unlinks an item in your Connect Boards column).
- monday updates the mirror column on your main board, as it always does.
- MirrorSync reads the mirror's new value and writes it into your target column — within moments.
What gets written depends on the column type: Text and Dropdown values are copied as shown, Numbers follow the aggregation set on the mirror column, and Status writes the most representative label. The exact rules per type are in Supported columns.
Section 3
Create a connection
Everything happens in the view's Create tab — pick a mirror column, pick a target column, click Connect.
3.1 Fill in the three fields
- Main Board — already set to the board you're on. If the board has subitems, a Subitems board toggle appears next to it — switch it on to sync a mirror column that lives on the subitems instead.
- Mirror Column — choose the mirror column to sync from. Each option shows its source type, e.g. "Sub Status (Status)". Only supported, fully-configured mirrors are listed.
- Connected Column — choose the regular column that will receive the value. The list only shows columns of the same type as the mirrored source, and hides columns already used by another connection.
3.2 Review and connect
Once both columns are picked, a "You are about to connect:" panel lists every board your mirror is linked to — these are the boards MirrorSync will listen to.
- Tick "Activate integration immediately" to run a first sync right after connecting, so existing items get their values without waiting for the next change.
- Boards marked (Webhook already exist) are already covered by an identical connection — nothing to do.
- Boards marked (Unable to connect: permission needed) are restricted — see Troubleshooting.
Click Connect. A progress toast shows each board being wired up, and you'll get a "Connection successfully created!" notice when it's done.

Manage connections
The Controller tab shows every active connection on the board and keeps them healthy.
4.1 The Connected Columns table
Connections are grouped per mirror column. Each row shows the connected board, the target column, and the source column being mirrored, with a Delete button per row.
4.2 Added a new board to your Connect Boards column?
New boards linked through the Connect Boards column are not synced automatically. Click the Sync button at the top of the Controller tab — it opens the "Sync connected boards" dialog, which lists the boards each connection already covers, marks newly linked ones as (New) and removed ones as (Deleted). Click Confirm to bring the connection up to date.
4.3 Deleting and self-healing
- Delete removes the connection and its listeners — the target column keeps its last value but stops updating.
- If a mirror or target column is deleted from the board, its connection is removed automatically the next time the view loads — just recreate it if the deletion was a mistake.

Supported columns
MirrorSync syncs mirrors of Text, Dropdown, Status and Numbers columns. The target column must always be the same type as the mirrored source.
Text Copied as shown
The mirror's displayed text is copied verbatim. When several linked items contribute values, they're written as a comma-separated list.
Dropdown Copied as shown
Works like Text — the displayed labels are copied over, and missing labels are created on the target column automatically.
Numbers Aggregated
Follows the aggregation you set on the mirror column itself — sum (default), average, median, min, max or count — so the target number always matches what the mirror shows.
Status Smart label
Writes the most frequent label across the linked items — and when all of them are marked Done, the Done label wins. Labels missing on the target column are created automatically.

Frequently asked questions
The questions that come up most.
Nothing happens when the mirrored value changes.
Check three things: the connection exists in the Controller tab, your monthly action limit isn't used up (see the License label in the view's top bar), and your monday session with the app is still valid — if it expired, you'll have received a notification asking you to reconnect through the MirrorSync view.
Why doesn't my mirror column appear in the list?
Two common reasons: the mirror isn't fully configured (it needs both a board and a specific column selected in its settings), or its source column type isn't supported — MirrorSync handles Text, Dropdown, Status and Numbers mirrors.
Why can't I find my target column in the Connected Column list?
The list only shows columns of the same type as the mirrored source (a mirrored Status needs a Status column, etc.), and hides columns that are already the target of another connection on this board.
Can I sync subitem mirror columns?
Yes — in the Create tab, switch on the Subitems board toggle next to the Main Board field. The Mirror Column and Connected Column lists then show the subitems' columns instead.
How many boards can one connection cover?
Up to 10 connected boards per connection — that's the number of boards your Connect Boards column links to. Beyond that, the Connect (or Confirm) button is disabled until you reduce the linked boards.
What happens when I use up my monthly actions?
Syncing pauses and you get a monday notification with an upgrade link. Your connections and data are untouched — the target columns simply stop updating until the counter resets on the 1st of the month or you upgrade.
Who can use the app?
monday Admins and Members. Viewer and Guest roles can't open the view. Creating a connection to a restricted board additionally requires the board's permissions to allow it, or that you're a board owner.
Will MirrorSync change anything else on my board?
No — it only writes into the target column you picked for each connection. All other columns, items and boards are left alone.

Troubleshooting
The common issues and the exact fix for each.
The app's authorization with your monday account expired. Open the board, go to the MirrorSync view, and click Connect to monday.com — syncing resumes right away.
Your plan's monthly action quota is used up and syncing is paused. Upgrade via the view's Purchase button (or the marketplace billing page), or wait for the counter to reset on the 1st of the month.
The target column (or another column on the item) is marked as required on the board, and monday's data validation blocked the automatic update. Relax the required setting on that column, or make sure items have the required values filled in.
That connected board's permissions restrict who can edit it, and you're not a board owner. Ask the board owner to create the connection, or have the board's edit permissions opened up, then try again.
The mirror column or the target column was deleted from the board, so the connection removed itself. Restore or recreate the column, then create the connection again in the Create tab.
Boards added to your Connect Boards column after the connection was created aren't picked up automatically. Open the Controller tab and click the Sync button to add them — see Manage connections.
